Dashing and daring, courageous and caring Faithful and friendly with stories to share All through the forest they sing out in chorus Marching along as their song fills the air Gummi Bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere High adventure that's beyond compare. They are the Gummi Bears Magic and mystery are part of their history Along with the secret of Gummi Berry Juice The legend is growing they take part in knowing They fight for what's right in whatever they do So it's not everyday I paste the lyrics of the Gummi Bears TV show theme song into my blog.
But yeah.
I met this woman.
And I would have blogged about it sooner but just like high school, folks gossip. So I didn't want to throw her real name out there because it would probably stir up some ish.
So I had to sit and think of a nickname for her, just like I have done for pervious people.
And I came up with Gummi Bear - not on no I'm soft and whipped ish and calling people honey bunny.
She just happens to love Gummi Bears so I put two and two together and came up with that.
So I knew of GB long before she knew of me. She was busy doing newsworthy stuff with her life - I was just a lowly journalist with big dreams of making it one day.
We were informally introduce through a friend and I can't remember who IM'ed the other first (it was probably me).
We talked, she seemed real cool. Had a wity, twisted sense of humor like myself so that was a plus.
And at first, I thought nothing of it. But the IM's became more often and then she asked for my number one day. I didn't ask for hers because I'm not a phone person but I asked for hers in return.
I figured this way if she did ever happen to call, I would know its her and not just some random bill collector looking for their money.
Couple days later, I'm driving through Hofstra's empty campus during Winter Break and I get a phone call from her. I told her if she did call, call after 9PM beacuse of my daytime minutes. It was 6:57. I mumbled to myself "Didn't I tell her after 9..." as I answered the phone.
We talked for a couple minutes before she realized she broke Rule #1 and called before 9. I wasn't trying to rush her off the phone - it's just I wasn't at home yet.
Couple days later, she calls again. Now I'm feeling good because I'm like hmmm, I like a girl who doesn't wait for a guy to call all the time. I remember The Cup Stealer was in my room and she's hella nosy so I was trying to play it cool while I talked to GB on the phone.
Two hours later I realized we were still on the phone, it was 1AM, and The Cup Stealer was still in my room. (and that's just bad)
From then on, the phone calls have been daily, like clockwork. And I HATE the phone, yet, I seem to not mind when I'm talking to her.
I think I realized I liked her when I recieved my treatment a few weeks ago. I'm drugged up, an IV in my arm, and this beeping machine that keeps going on.
And the machine is driving me crazy (and I think her as well) and my ass was content on laying there until the nurse came by the room.
But she wasn't content with me just being content. She kept pushing me into trying to buzz the nurse (I swear, I couldnt find the buzzer), or get out of bed and open the door and look for some help.
And something as little as pushing me and a lil tough love is what sealed the deal for me.
Sight unseen and all.
Because if she will spend the time to push me to do something as trivial as getting the nurse's attention, then I know she would support me in my attempt to be a professional journalist like herself.
(I finally got out of bed, pushed the machine in the hallway and waited until someone showed up)
